A melhor banda que já apareceu no Rio Grande do Sul (Engenheiros? Cachorro? blé!) me chamou a atenção pela primeira vez quando eu estava lendo a falecida e falida Revista Zero. O engraçado é que eu gostei tanto da resenha que fiquei meio preocupado se o disco era tão bom assim. Anos depois, eu resolvi ouvir o tal disco. E num é que é porreta de bom? Uma guitarrada atrás da outra sem muito tempo pra respirar. Um disco e uma banda tão boa como essa me faz pensar por que a Pitty toca nas rádios e eles não? Enfim, pra espantar a crise e a gripe! Sai zica! Top 3: "Anticontrole", "Regras" e "Eu Vou Vivendo". Pra quem gosta de: MQN, Nirvana, Mudhoney, Queens Of The Stone Age e AMP.

The best band from the south of the greatest country in the world (:P) grabs my attention a few years ago in a review made by Zero Magazine, which doesn't exists anymore. The review was very enthusiatic and made me really curious about them. Years later, I finally got this album in my collection and, man, is just great. Guitars are all over in this record. Check this one if you want something very loud in portuguese. Anyway, Fuck the Crisis and the Flu! Top 3: "Anticontrole", "Regras" and "Eu Vou Vivendo". For those who likes: MQN, Nirvana, Mudhoney, Queens Of The Stone Age and AMP.

Mais uma banda daqui do Brasil, de São Paulo mais precisamente. Stoner mais direto, pesado e gritado. A banda tem uma química muito boa e ótimas composições. Me lembra um pouco o Hermano. Mais umas das excelentes bandas que tem aparecido desde 2000 e que, por motivos obscuros, não tocam na rádio. Vai entender. Top 3: "Bail Out", "Vasalube"e "The Outsider". Pra quem gosta de: Hermano, Unida, Slo Burn, Monster Magnet e Motörhead.

Another great brazilian band, sounding more like Goldfish Memories. Sometimes they remind me John Garcia's Hermano. Unfortunately, they're not playing in your radio. De longe, o melhor disco do "Sepa" com o Derrick Green nos vocais. Acho que alguns discos de metal sofrem com o problema de serem muito arrastados, demoram muito pra terminar. Mas esse é tão bom que você até lamenta que terminou. "Dark Wood Of Error" já começa matadora e muito legal pois o disco tem muitos altos e baixos, no bom sentido. Uma das melhores coisas do metal nos ultimos anos. Top 3: "Dark Wood Of Error", "Convicted In Life", "Burried Words". Pra quem gosta de: Mastodon, Megadeth, Nuclear Assault, Slayer e Machine Head.

By far, this is the best Sepultura's record with Derrick Green singing. Some heavy metal records are hard to listen because they are too long and seems like a never ending experience. But this not happen in this record. "Dark Wood Of Error" opens the record destroying everything and when you notice, you are listen to "Burried Words" in a blink of an eye. One of the best metal records released in 2000's. Top 3: "Dark Wood Of Error", "Convicted In Life", "Burried Words". For those who likes: Mastodon, Megadeth, Nuclear Assault, Slayer and Machine Head.

Eu sei, MQN num é lá das coisas mais stoner que existem, mas eles tem um pézinho no estilo. Coloquei eles aqui por que eles são a minha banda nacional favorita no momento. Vou além, acho que eles são a melhor banda em atividade no mundo no momento, ou quase isso. Top 3: "Come Into This Place Called Hell", "Cold Queen" e "Hot N' Nasty". Pra quem gosta de: Black Drawing Chalks, Thee Butchers Orchestra, Goldfish Memories, Mechanics e Flaming Moe.

I know that MQN is not like all those stoner bands that I've been uploaded here, but they have something that comes from the desert (in this case, from "cerrado"). My favorite brazilian band at this moment and, maybe, the best band in activitie in the whole world. Well, at least is what I think. Facinho uma das melhores do Brasil no momento. Quer dizer, faz tempo que não tenho noticias deles, então nem sei se eles ainda estão na ativa. Enfim, vamos falar do som. É a tipica banda que não tem nada de especial, o vocal num é maravilhoso, o guitarrista num é um deus, nem a cozinha é espetacular. Mas, sei lá por quê, num tem nada fora do lugar. Tudo parece milimetricamente calculado no som deles e a execução é perfeita! Fora que as músicas são ótimas e muito, mas muito pegajosas, principalmente "Rise Above The Flame". Mais ou menos que nem o Dozer: num tem nada de novo e diferente, mas é tão bom, mas tão bom que até cansa. Goiania é a méca do rock brasileiro! Top 3: "Alcoholic Juice" , "Rise Above The Flame" e "Tricks". Pra quem gosta de: Fu Manchu, Dozer, Black Drawing Chalks, Flamin' Moe e Nebula.

One of the best brazilian bands at this moment. Well, to be honest, it's been a long time since I hearded about them. Don't know if they are still active but, well, it doesn't matter. Talking about their sound, they are one of those bands that sounds like a million others but, they're still fabulous anyway. There is nothing special in their sound but it's so well done that it's impossible to not enjoy a little at least. Catchy riffs and a very good production is what we have here. It's just not fair that they aren't in brazilian mainstream music right now. Anyway, they rocked! And that is what really matter here. Listen loud! Top 3: "Alcoholic Juice" , "Rise Above The Flame" and "Tricks". For those who likes: Fu Manchu, Dozer, Black Drawing Chalks, Flamin' Moe and Nebula.

Primeiro disco do Forgotten Boys com músicas em português (3 no total). Bom disco, mas eu ainda acho o Gimme More o melhor disco deles. O ultimo disco, Louva-a-Deus eu num gostei não. Acho que eles estão tomando um caminho muito Rolling Stones ultimamente. Perderam um pouco a pegada acho. Enfim, ainda são uma ótima banda. Top 3: "All You See", "Get Load" e "Falling Higher". Pra quem gosta de: Hellacopters, Gluecifer, Backyard Babies, MQN e Supersuckers.

First Forgotten Boys' record with songs in portuguese (3 songs in 12). Good record, but I still think that Gimme More is their classic. The last one, "Louva-A-Deus", I didn't like it. Lately, they've been sounding more and more like Rolling Stones, but with less punch. But they are still a great band to listen and watch. Top 3: "All You See", "Get Load" and "Falling Higher". For those who likes: Hellacopters, Gluecifer, Backyard Babies, MQN and Supersuckers.

Ultimo disco solo do Nasi, ex-vocal do Ira!. Tem uma ótima produção e um quê de blues e hip hop por todo o disco que dá um ar meio soturno pra gravação. Gostei muito. Top 3: "Corpo Fechado", "Onde Os Anjos Não Ousam Pisar" e "Quero Ser Seu Homem". Pra quem gosta de: Misturar Muddy Waters com Xis.

Last release by Nasi, ex-vocal from seminal brazilian rock Ira!. The production is great and the songs have a lot of blues and hip hop influences, which brings a dark mood to the album. Really enjoyable. Top 3: "Corpo Fechado", "Onde Os Anjos Não Ousam Pisar" and "Quero Ser Seu Homem". For those who likes: Muddy Waters mixed with House Of Pain.

Banda brasileira com um som bem parecido com os ultimos do Stone Temple Pilots, em especial o Shangri-La-Dee-Da. Até a variação entre as músicas mais rockeiras e as mais baladas é parecido. Das bandas que cantam em português que surgiram recentemente, essa é uma das poucas que eu realmente gosto. Por acaso, andam meio sumidos. Belo disco! This brazilian band have a sound very similar to what Stone Temple Pilots made in their last records, mainly Shangri-La-Dee-Da. Even the variation between the rockers and the ballads is similar. Among the bands that sing in portuguese that apeared recently, this is one of my favourites. Top 3: "Se Alguém O Ver Parado", "Senhor das Moscas", "Elnora". Novo single dos Chalks. O som tá um pouco diferente do primeiro disco, "Big Deal" de 2007. Um pouco menos veloz e "grungeado" e mais cadenciado e "queensofstoneageado". O que eu achei ótimo. Bom ver uma banda tão nova já preocupada em mudar tão rápido. Profecia: Em um ano eles serão a melhor banda do país!!!

New Chalks' single. They just went back from a tour in Canada to release this awesome single. It sounds a little different of "Big Deal", a little bit more QOSTAish and less grungy. I think is great to see a band that is new wantin to sound different and move ahead in their sound. Here's a profecy: I one year, they will be the biggest band in this country!!!

Os Astronautas são uma banda de Recife, Pernambuco que eu ouvi pela primeira vez na MTV acho. De cara eu gostei. O som é uma guitarreira danada cheia de efeitos eletrônicos, fazendo uma linha meio industrial, meio stoner. Neste segundo disco da banda, a produção está bem melhor que no primeiro e os timbres, riffs e solos de guitarra são todos muito legais. Cidade Cinza tem um solo matador e uma levada que fica na cabeça um tempão. Revolver #3 tem uma jogada muito legal entre guitarra e bateria que hora estão juntas , hora estão em compassos diferentes. Fora os efeitos de som em Maquinas e Sentimentos. Muito bom mesmo. Top 3: "Cidade Cinza", "Tecnologia" e "Revolver #3". Pra quem gosta de: MQN, Nine Inch Nails, Queens Of The Stone Age e Faith No More.

Astronautas is a band from Recife, Brazil that make a sound with a bunch of guitars with some electronics effects in way half industrial, half stoner. In this second record, the band shows a great production with all the rhythyms and solos are very clear and well balanced, wich makes a musculous sound. Fantastic record! Top 3: "Cidade Cinza", "Tecnologia" and "Revolver #3". Pra quem gosta de: MQN, Nine Inch Nails, Queens Of The Stone Age and Faith No More.
